Quick Tweepi Tip: Unfollowing the Unfollowers

When using Tweepi to unfollow those who did not follow you back, you can choose amongst multiple presets such as Klout Score, Number of Tweets, Number of Followers and/or Time of Last Tweet.

However, since you can’t wait forever until a tweep decides to follow you back, you can always depend on the “Date Followed” to make a decision about unfollowing tweeps.

Personally, I give tweeps up to 2 days to follow me back, a longer time period would mean:

  1. They are not interested in following me back.
  2. They do not know (and might never know) that I am following them.
  3. They are inactive.

5 Tips for Choosing “The Right” Twitter Name

Apart from your Twitter avatar, what would influence your choice of people to follow on Twitter? How many Twitter users have you unfollowed due to their user names? What is the best method for companies to benefit from Twitter user names?

So what’s all the fuss about?

“No one cares anyway”… Right? Wrong! Take a look at the following comments:

@Kurd said “I have blocked people before based solely on their avatar or name, if it was offensive enough. Or if I’m following someone with, say, a puppy avatar with the user name “ILoveLife” but at some point they’ve changed their avatar and name to a spread-eagle model named “SexFrosting.”

I’m sure many of you out there would agree to what this gentleman had to say, and I’m 100% percent certain that you’ll have one story or another about bad or annoying experiences with at least one of your followers’ user names!

First Impression Matters :)
First Impressions Matter…

But what defines a “good” Twitter user name?

Based on many encounters with a bunch of followers and my own experience, I can safely say that one or more of the following characteristics define a good Twitter user name:

  1. It Should Be Real: If your Twitter user name is your real name, people would feel more comfortable following you on Twitter because you are less likely to be a spammer!
  2. It Should Describe You: So, you don’t want to use your real name? It’s not a problem as long as you use one which describes who you are, what you do and what tweets your followers should expect from you!
  3. It Should Be Short: The shorter, the better, since this makes it easier for your followers to retweet your tweets and mention you.
  4. It Should Be Unique: “@Puppylover”, “@Doglover” and “@Lovespuppies” are not that unique! You want to use a user name that will be remembered!
  5. It Should Be Sincere: If you are not a guru, don’t claim to be one in your user name! This applies to everything else ranging from claiming to be a doctor to claiming to be an active tweep!

** Avoid: Offensive names, celebrity names, bot-like names and too many numbers and/or symbols in your user name. Continue reading »

Top 10 Tips to Avoid Getting Unfollowed or Blocked on Twitter…

Ever wondered what could get you blacklisted on Twitter? Today’s post is dedicated to the top 10 tips I have for Twitter users who want to avoid getting unfollowed or blocked on Twitter:

Twitter Block

Twitter Block

  1. NEVER add your followers’ names in your ad tweets! It might seem appealing, it might seem lucrative but trust me, it is annoying and I have unfollowed and blocked many of those I was following just for that reason!
  2. Don’t just tweet rambles! Twitter is an endless stream of information and if you don not provide something valuable every now and then, you will eventually be unfollowed.
  3. Don’t be selfish! If I care enough to retweet you, you should be able to do the same or else you don’t deserve me following you and I will eventually block you. Sharing is caring and retweeting is as well.
  4. Don’t Overdo the Direct Messages! Especially when I start following you, I don’t want you promoting your products and services to me, let me know you on a different and deeper level then start advertising to me!
  5. Never Try to Cheat the Rules! Twitter will catch you, eventually and suspend your account periodically or indefinitely! Continue reading »

When using Tweepi, or any other following tools, your avatar can play a very important role in whether tweeps decide to follow you or not.

Here are 5 reasons why:

1. Recognition: It has been proven that human beings are wired in a manner which allows them to recognize and remember faces. Therefore, if you use a picture of your face in your avatar, you have a higher percentage of being remembered by your followers.

Get More Followers With the Tweepi Routine

The usage of hashtags such as #mustfollow, #teamfollowback or other similar ones to gain new followers is really popular on Twitter but really it ends up being more trouble than its worth. You will not be able to judge the quality of the people you are following and being followed by and in general it might just get on the nerves of people who follow you and lead to them unfollowing you instead.  But if you are using Tweepi diligent in its usage you will be able to develop a much more influential and affective following and network.

Here is a simple routine that if you adopt as a routine and do it a couple of times a week you will be able to see the number and quality of your Twitter network increase considerably.

Tweepi is Zen

1st Step :

Log on to Tweepi and reciprocate all of those who are following you.

2nd Step:

Go to Clean Up and remove those users who are no longer active on Twitter using the “Active Users Preset”, no longer active has an elastic definition depending on your activity but usually it’s defined as someone who hasn’t used the service for more than 2 weeks.

3rd Step:

Unfollow those who you have been following for a while and haven’t followed you back, except for those celebrities who you can just forgive for being Twitter celebrities.

Follow Them Tweeps

4th Step:

Pick one your top tweeps that you like or talk about the same topics that you do, input his name into “Follow Tweeps –> @user’s followers” and selectively follow his followers that you don’t already follow using the Geeky Follow Tool.

If you follow these steps your Twitter account will prosper.
